A SmartWood HCVF assessment of Serapung Resort FMU: An independent assessment of High Conservation Value Forests (HCVFs) in an industrial timber plantation in Riau Province, Sumatra, Indonesia. The Rainforest Alliance’s SmartWood program conducted an HCVF assessment of Asia Pulp and Paper’s (APP) Serapung Resort I and Resort II, a 19,495 hectare forest management unit (FMU), managed by PT. Arara Abadi (AA). The assessment team identified 7,144 hectares of natural forest within the FMU that SmartWood classifies as High Conservation Value Forest, subject to a more detailed study of Sumatran tiger populations in and surrounding the FMU.
