Network Structure & Governance

Representation

The HCV Resource Network is overseen and directed by a Steering Group (SG) made up of representatives of the users of the Network. The SG is responsible for promoting and expanding the understanding and use of the High Conservation Value concept, for upholding the values of the Charter, and for directing the HCV Resource Network.

In order to provide elements of quality control and governance for the ongoing development of the HCV framework, the SG has established a globally representative Technical Panel (TP) composed of experts in the use and interpretation of the HCV concept. The TP will both support the HCV Resource Network and provide advisory services to industry, policy-makers and other HCV stakeholders.

As the HCV Resource Network develops, it is envisaged that a series of Regional Partners will be identified in different areas to provide the local representation of the Network.

Coordination

Management of the day-to-day activities of the HCV Resource Network are undertaken by a Secretariat which is overseen by the Steering Group.

Governance

All of the HCV Network governance dcuments, including Terms of Reference, Mechanism for Operation, and minutes and supporting materials from SG and TP meetings are available to dowload from the Resource Centre.

Activities

The HCV Resource Network may from time to time set up Discussion Groups to initiate a broad-based discussion of priority issues, which will be conducted through an open and inclusive online forum. Discussion Groups will be open to all interested parties, and facilitated by a Network Participant.

Where necessary, Working Groups (WGs), to be composed of Network Participants with specialized expertise, may be appointed for a more focused and in-depth review of a particular topic.
