Notes on the Report:

INTERIM MEASURES. Published report marking revised following post‑publication quality review, and report removed from the website.  This report was originally published as "satisfactory" on March 2025. Concerns were submitted by members of the public on January 2026 indicating that areas mapped as non‑forest in this report may include HCS forest. At the time the concerns were raised, clearance had already started, and remaining areas potentially affected by misclassification may still have been at risk of conversion. In line with HCVN’s mission to support the identification and protection of HCVs and HCS forest, an internal review of the report’s “satisfactory” evaluation outcome was conducted. The review found that certain aspects of the report’s analysis and conclusions, particularly regarding land cover classification and the extent of HCS forest and associated HCVs, are not consistent with ALS requirements. The licensed assessor has been requested to revise the report to address these issues. To date, a revised version has not yet been submitted. HCVN notes that, as the report had previously been evaluated as “satisfactory,” organisations relying on it may have done so in good faith prior to being informed of these concerns. A summary of the timeline and process followed in this case is available here: https://hcvrn.egnyte.com/dl/RvYFKf3V3BVg HCVN is engaging with relevant stakeholders to consider appropriate next steps and how best to present and manage this and similar cases going forward.
